Brinkworth CFS is a volunteer organisation and is part of the Blyth/Snowtown Group in Region 4 of the South Australian Country Fire Service.

Brinkworth has:

  • Men and women volunteers who are fully equipped and trained in Rural and structural fire fighting,
  • Radio operation
  • Senior first aid
  • Administration support
  • Leadership
  • Chain saw operation
  • Operation support (Rescue, Hazardous material spills, Road crashes, Structural fires, Search and Rescue and Emergency services)
  • One, two-wheeled drive vehicle "Brinkworth 32"
  • Meetings every Tuesday evening at 8.00 pm for training, maintenance
  • A dedicated training night on the second Tuesday of each month

We also:

  • Work with the local Council and local residents in fuel reduction throughout the district
  • Assist other CFS brigades and groups in containing and suppression of rural or bush fires throughout the state and interstate
  • Assist SA Police in search and rescue operations
  • Train new members and cadet firefighters in the principles of firefighting safety.

When grass fires occur, most small farm units have them under control or out before the CFS trucks arrive. They play a very big role on the Fire Ground. Communication is also essential. Numbers to remember:

If you would like to become a member of this CFS organisation,

  1. Would like to work with others in the service and protection of your community
  2. Live within a reasonable distance of Brinkworth
  3. Are willing to give time to training and firefighting
  4. Are fit and capable to withstand extreme weather conditions and heat
  5. Are willing to take and follow directions
  6. Are over 12 years old (12-16 years for cadets)
